What is GAMMAGARD LIQUID
About GAMMAGARD LIQUID SubQ
GAMMAGARD LIQUID SubQ is an infusion that is administered under the skin. Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency (PI) usually receive SubQ infusions once per week. Most of the time SubQ infusions are given at home by patients or caregivers after they have been trained by a healthcare professional.
Sustained protection against infection
In the clinical study to look at the safety and effectiveness of GAMMAGARD LIQUID SubQ, 47 patients with PI were treated for about one year (54 weeks on average, with a range of 8 to 68 weeks overall). Patients receiving GAMMAGARD LIQUID showed sustained protection against infection, including the following outcomes:
There was less than 1 acute serious bacterial infection (ASBI) per year in patients taking GAMMAGARD LIQUID*
No patients needed to be hospitalized for an infection (or for treatment of an infection)
On average, patients missed 4 days of work or school per year (or days unable to perform normal activities)
*3 patients had pneumonia, which was treated without hospitalization
With a total of 2,294 infusions in the clinical study, the most common side effect for GAMMAGARD LIQUID SubQ was local infusion site reactions (in 2.4% of infusions), which are reactions at the place on the body where the infusion was given, such as mild or moderate pain, swelling, itching, redness, bruising, and/or warmth.
The most common side effects (seen in ≥5% of patients) were local infusion site reactions, headache, fatigue, increased heart rate, fever, upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, asthma, increased blood pressure, diarrhea, ear pain, canker sores, migraine, sore throat, and pain in the hands or feet.
